Delicate Handling of Printing Machines in Apt, Vaucluse (84), as Part of Equipment Replacement

At the end of September 2024, Bovis Escolan took up a major challenge by replacing a printing machine in the heart of the city centre of Apt, in the Vaucluse (84). As specialists in delicate handling in Provence, our team has demonstrated all its know-how and its ability to manage the most complex access constraints.

A site with very delicate access constraints

The printing house in question is located in a narrow alley in Apt, with direct access to the street, which made the operation particularly technical. In addition, the printing machine was located in the basement of the establishment, accessible only via a hopper. The constraints were multiple:

• Narrow passage in the alley: As the printing house is located on a narrow street in the city centre, the positioning of our vehicles had to be carried out with extreme precision.
• Access through the front of the printing house: the removal of the old machine and the installation of the new one had to be done through the opening directly overlooking the street.
• Handling with the crane arm directly inserted into the printing plant: for this operation, the crane arm was inserted directly inside the printing plant, allowing the machine elements to be lowered through the hopper to the basement.
• Presence of electrical cables: overhead electrical cables in the street made the handling of the crane arm even more delicate.

A service carried out with adapted equipment

For this delicate handling operation, we used a truck equipped with a high-precision crane arm, which is perfectly suited to this type of construction site in an urban environment. A heavy truck was also mobilized, with all the necessary equipment and tools to guarantee the smooth running of the operation. The use of the crane arm made it possible to move the machines safely, despite the access constraints.

Delivery and installation of a new machine with a total weight of 18 tons

The new printing machine, with a total weight of 18 tons, consisted of several 6-ton and 3-ton components respectively. Thanks to the expertise of our team of 4 experienced handlers, we were able to carry out the removal of the old machine, then the delivery and installation of the new machine using the hopper to reach the printing area located in the basement.
