Artwork Transport in the Southwest of France

Transport and logistics are key sectors in the ecological transition. In the face of climate challenges, it is essential to rethink our practices to reduce the environmental impact of transport operations. With this objective in mind, Groupe Bovis has leveraged its expertise in specialized transport to support an ambitious initiative led by the Musée d’Orsay: "100 Works that Tell the Climate Story."

This large-scale national operation aims to raise awareness about climate change through art, loaning artworks to 30 cultural institutions across France. The project aligns with a broader eco-friendly approach, a value shared by Bovis, a key player in specialized transport committed to more sustainable solutions.

Optimized Transport to Reduce Carbon Footprint

As part of this mission, our teams carried out several artwork deliveries in Southwest France, implementing innovative and responsible logistics solutions:

  • Consolidation of transports: By combining multiple routes and optimizing delivery schedules, we reduced the number of vehicles on the road and limited CO₂ emissions.
  • Reuse of packaging: Instead of manufacturing new crates, transport was conducted using reusable crates and careful soft packing for short distances, reducing resource consumption.
  • Use of specialized vehicles: Our trucks, dedicated to transporting sensitive items, are equipped with temperature and humidity control systems, ensuring optimal energy efficiency.

Thanks to these best practices, the transport of artworks was completed safely while minimizing its environmental impact.

Eco-Responsibility at the Heart of Our Specialized Transport Solutions

At Bovis, we place environmental performance at the center of our approach. As specialists in the transport and handling of fragile, large, or valuable objects, we integrate eco-friendly practices into all our projects:

  • Optimized fleet: Our vehicles are regularly upgraded to meet the latest environmental standards and limit pollutant emissions.
  • Sustainable logistics strategies: Route consolidation, optimized itineraries, and a reduction in empty trips.
  • Innovation and adaptation: Research into recyclable protective materials and alternative solutions to lower the carbon footprint of transportation.

Bovis is committed to supporting its clients with transport solutions that are both secure and environmentally responsible, without compromising service quality.

A Project That Gains Media Attention

This initiative, carried out in partnership with the Musée d’Orsay, has attracted attention from regional media. Charente Libre notably highlighted the transport of two paintings to Cognac, emphasizing the eco-friendly approach adopted for these shipments.

By participating in projects that combine logistical excellence and environmental commitment, Groupe Bovis reinforces its position as a leader in sustainable specialized transport, serving cultural, industrial, and institutional actors.
