A Dedicated Slinging & Signalman Training Session

Recently, several members of our team attended a “Slinging & Signalman” training course at Bovis Academia, the Bovis Group’s internal training center located in Malesherbes (45).

This session brought together personnel from Bonal Manutention as well as from our partner agency Marchal Technologies (95), promoting knowledge sharing and inter-agency cohesion.

Slinging: A Key Step for Safe Handling

Slinging is a fundamental step in any heavy and delicate handling operation. It involves a range of techniques used to secure, lift, and safely move complex, heavy, or bulky loads. A poor assessment or incorrect slinging setup can lead to serious risks for the goods, the people involved, and the site as a whole.

Thanks to this training, our staff is now able to analyze situations, select the appropriate lifting accessories, and apply the correct procedures to ensure perfectly controlled and safe handling.

The Signalman: A Key Role in Site Safety and Coordination

In addition to slinging techniques, the training also prepared our teams to take on the role of signalman, a critical position on any handling site. The signalman acts as the coordinator of lifting operations:

• Supervising site zoning and exclusion areas
• Maintaining constant communication with the crane operator, guiding each movement with precision
• Ensuring strict compliance with safety rules for all parties involved
