A Customized Handling Service for a Major DIY Retailer

Bovis Côte d’Azur, located near Nice, recently carried out a complex operation to handle and install moving walkways for a major DIY retailer in the Nice region. This large-scale project was supervised by our "Escalators Excellence Hub", renowned for its unique expertise and interventions across France.

Our "Escalators Excellence Hub" is composed of specialists in the handling, transport, and installation of escalators and moving walkways. Leveraging its nationwide expertise, this hub provided strategic and operational support to our Nice-based team, ensuring the success of every stage of the project, from the reception of the equipment to its final installation.

From Reception to Installation: A Mastered Logistics Process

The operation began with the reception of six moving walkways at our handling facility in Nice. Our teams managed the unloading and assembly preparation of the equipment, ensuring they were ready for transport and installation on-site.

Once this preparation phase was completed, the moving walkways were carefully loaded onto flatbed trailers and transported to the final site.

Technical and Perfectly Coordinated Installation

The installation of the moving walkways required the use of advanced technical resources to overcome complex access constraints:

• For the upper levels (R+4):
  Access to the trimmings was achieved through the roof using a mobile crane, capable of lifting the equipment to the required height.
• For other levels:
  Our teams carried out the handling through an opening made in the building's facade cladding. Two synchronized crane arms were used to move the moving walkways with precision and safety.

Inside the building, our handlers utilized two forklift trucks equipped with booms to position the equipment. The moving walkways were then moved above the trimmings and installed using gantries and hoists.
