Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes
In the heart of the beautiful Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, this industrial plant in Issoire stands out as a major player in the industry in the production of high-quality aluminium solutions for various sectors: aeronautics, space, defence, marine, commercial and leisure vehicles and industry.
Recently, our team of Bovis Auvergne had the privilege of carrying out an essential technical service for this plant: the transfer of a retention tank gantry. This operation, although complex, was successful thanks to the expertise and professionalism of our Auvergne technicians.
Background to the Transfer Benefit
Constellium, with its headquarters in Issoire (63), is known for its advanced technologies and innovative aluminium products. To maintain its high standards of safety and efficiency, the plant had to proceed with the transfer of a retention tank gantry. This gantry plays a crucial role in the management of accidental spills and the prevention of environmental risks related to industrial operations.
Our mission was to move this gantry with maximum precision and efficiency, while minimizing disruption to plant operations.
Preparation and Planning
An operation of this magnitude requires careful preparation. Before starting the transfer, our team carried out a detailed analysis of the site and the gantry crane in question. This included:
Gantry Inspection: Assessment of the condition of the gantry crane and its structure to determine the best methods of movement.
Site Survey: Analysis of the plant's physical constraints, including access roads, available space, and potential obstacles.
Logistics Planning: Development of a detailed plan covering each stage of the transfer, from deinstallation to relocation, including transport.
We also coordinated with the Constellium teams to ensure that our plan would minimize the impact on the plant's day-to-day operations.
Completion of the Transfer
On the day of the transfer, our team of specialized technicians implemented the plan with precision. Here are the key steps of this service:
Uninstalling the Gantry:
Securing the Zone: Setting up security barriers to protect employees and surrounding equipment.
Disconnection of Systems: Disconnection of electrical connections and hydraulic lines related to the gantry.
Disassembly: Use of specialized tools to disassemble the gantry while preserving its structural integrity.
Portal transport:
Use of cranes and specialized vehicles: The gantry crane was carefully loaded onto a paratransit vehicle, with the help of cranes for lifting and positioning.
Safe Transport: Driving the transport vehicle to another workshop within the factory, considering the dimensions of the gantry to avoid any damage.
Reinstallation of the Gantry:
Preparation of the New Site: Development of the new reception area to accommodate the portico.
Assembly and Fixing: Reassembly of the gantry with particular attention to alignments and connections, guaranteeing stable and functional installation.
Tests and Verifications: Carrying out tests to ensure that the gantry is working properly and that it meets safety standards.
Results and Benefits
The transfer of the retention tank gantry to the Constellium plant in Issoire was successfully completed, without major incidents or delays. The results of this service are multiple:
Operational Efficiency: Minimal disruption to plant operations has helped maintain continuous and efficient production.
Customer satisfaction: Constellium's management has expressed its satisfaction with our professionalism and the quality of our work.
