Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur
Our Provençal agency Bovis Escolan carried out a large-scale hospital logistics service with the preparation in the warehouse and then the delivery to the hospitals of Marseille of the furniture of nearly 150 rooms.
This is the 4th wave of furniture equipment that our agency is producing for its client APHM, which manages the public hospitals of Marseille. In total, by combining the 4 deployments carried out in recent years, we have completely refurnished no less than 1,000 rooms.
Our Bovis Escolan agency is located in Rousset, between Aix-en-Provence and Marseille (13). It has 10,000 m² of storage space in three warehouses.
The agency has very large storage and order preparation areas, which are perfectly suited for this type of high-volume logistics service.
Logistical consolidation of furniture
The first service provided is a logistical consolidation of the furniture to be installed. The various furniture manufacturers, suppliers of the APHM, deliver all of their orders to our warehouses.
For this project, three suppliers are supplying all the furniture for the furnishing of the hospital rooms.
Preparation of furniture kits for each hospital department
Once all the furniture is received and stored in our warehouse, our logistics team starts the order preparation.
Each hospital room has a complete furniture kit:
1 Medical bed
1 Mattress
1 Dining table
1 Chevet
1 Visitor's chair
1 Patient chair
The picking and order preparation service is very complete:
Unpacking of all furniture and recycling of packaging
Bed assembly, with assembly of the mattress on the medical bed
Checking that the bed and the electrical control are working properly
Preparation of the furnishing set for each room by placing the small furniture on the mattress. This makes it possible to streamline on-site deliveries.
Each hospital department has one or more specific colours for its furniture. Order preparation must take these specificities into account.
The delivery of furniture to Marseille hospitals
The delivery schedule is carried out in close collaboration with the health executives. It is very precise in order to impact the proper functioning of hospital services as little as possible.
Trucks in rotation for deliveries
On the day scheduled for deliveries, our trucks rotate between our warehouses and the hospitals in Marseille. About twenty furniture kits are loaded into each truck.
After unloading on the hospital's delivery docks, the furniture is lifted to the relevant departments. The hospital staff systematically carries out a biocleaning of the supplies before being introduced into the room.
A new life for antique furniture
The old furniture is also cleaned by the hospital staff and our teams evacuate it to the logistics docks of the establishment.
All the antique furniture is recovered by charities that give it a second life by sending it to developing countries. This recovery by the associations is done either directly on the hospital docks, or in our logistics warehouses.
