Bovis Manudem Rhône Alpes recently contributed to the installation of a monumental sculpture by the Catalan artist Jaume Plensa, located on Place des Ormeaux in Valence, in the Drôme region (26), right in front of the Musée des Beaux-Arts. This operation was carried out in support of our Spanish colleagues from Tti Barcelona (Bovis Group), as part of an ambitious international project involving specialized transport, crane handling, and the delicate lifting of heavy loads.
For this assignment, Bovis Manudem Rhône Alpes was acting on behalf of Bovis Fine Art Lyon, our commercial department specialized in the international transport of artworks.
Technical Coordination Between Agencies
Thanks to close collaboration with the Tti team, our Lyon Sud agency mobilized its technical expertise to ensure the successful completion of the operation. The work was carried out in several stages, from unloading the crates to supervising the crane operations, including assistance in positioning the sculptural elements.
The lifting of the three sculptural elements — made of metal and of considerable height — was performed using one of our truck-mounted cranes. Positioned in a narrow and busy urban square, the lifting operations required precise coordination, in close collaboration with the technical services of the City of Valence and the artist’s team. One of our specialized foremen was present on-site to ensure compliance with all safety and stability requirements.
A Showcase of Our Technical Know-How
This project is a perfect illustration of Bovis Manudem Rhône Alpes’ ability to operate on complex sites involving heavy handling, transport of sensitive objects, and technical logistics. With our experience, specialized equipment, and responsiveness, we help ensure the success of unique operations in urban and cultural environments.
An Installation in Dialogue with the Museum Exhibition
This outdoor installation perfectly echoes the temporary exhibition dedicated to Jaume Plensa currently on display at the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Valence. For this occasion, the artworks exhibited inside the museum were carefully transported by the Bovis Fine Art Lyon team, experts in museum logistics. This dual intervention — both in the public space and within the museum — highlights the complementary expertise within the Bovis Group, combining technical handling with art transportation services.
