Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes
Bovis Auvergne, a recognized specialist in the handling and lifting of technical equipment, recently carried out a strategic operation in Clermont-Ferrand (63) as part of the InspiRe project, a major redevelopment program of the metropolitan public transport network. This operation involved heavy handling, specialized transport, and crane delivery of a Low Voltage Main Switchboard, intended to power the electrical equipment of a future operations site for the new Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) line.
The Low Voltage Main Switchboard was received at our Cournon-d’Auvergne facility, which includes a secure storage zone specifically designed for heavy and bulky loads. With our adapted equipment, we performed temporary ground-level storage, allowing us to prepare the next stages of the operation in optimal conditions.
Our teams ensured the careful preparation of the electrical equipment, considering its fragility, sensitive connections, and overall dimensions. This logistics preparation phase is essential to guarantee safe handling up to the final installation location.
The Low Voltage Main Switchboard was transported using our truck equipped with an 80 tm hydraulic crane, ideally suited for urban environments. This vehicle allows for precise lifting maneuvers while minimizing its footprint, a major asset for downtown work sites.
Once on site, our technicians, specialized in lifting electrical equipment, carried out the crane delivery of the Low Voltage Main Switchboard to its dedicated electrical technical room. The operation was conducted with great care, taking into account access constraints, ceiling heights, and the need for millimetric positioning to ensure seamless future connection. Thanks to the expertise of our drivers and signalmen, the task was completed smoothly, in compliance with electrical safety standards and the client’s technical requirements.
This project illustrates Bovis Auvergne’s logistical and technical expertise in the fields of energy and construction. Based in Cournon-d’Auvergne, our agency has been supporting key players in electrical and HVAC engineering for many years in Clermont-Ferrand, the Puy-de-Dôme (63), and across the Auvergne region.
Our services include the transport of transformers, inverters, generators, industrial boilers, rectifier substations, as well as heat pumps and electrical cabinets. Whether dealing with new equipment to be installed or obsolete systems to be removed and recycled, we provide full-service support: storage, handling, lifting, urban logistics, and final installation.
Thanks to a modern equipment fleet and highly trained teams, we meet the most stringent requirements in terms of safety, precision, and scheduling. Delicate handling of technical equipment is our specialty, with constant attention paid to access constraints (tight technical rooms, lift shafts, façade or basement entry points).
The InspiRe Project in Clermont-Ferrand: A New Breath for Urban Mobility
The InspiRe project, led by Clermont Auvergne Métropole, represents a major transformation of the urban mobility network. Its aim is to rethink transportation within the city by implementing more sustainable, accessible, and efficient solutions. This includes the creation of two Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) lines, the development of new cycling infrastructure, the restructuring of the existing bus network, and the redesign of public spaces to encourage active mobility such as walking and biking.
Beyond transportation infrastructure, the project is part of a broader effort to reclaim public space and enhance quality of life. Tree-lined avenues, upgraded neighborhoods, and public engagement tools such as an immersive 3D model help residents visualize and understand the impact of the upcoming changes. With the first infrastructure expected to enter service by the end of 2025, InspiRe aims to transform Clermont-Ferrand into a cleaner, smoother, and future-ready metropolitan area.
