In October 2024, the specialized teams of the Bovis Médical excellence center carried out a complex MRI delivery and installation at the Maison Médicale de Garde in Tourcoing, Northern France (59). This operation required expertise, coordination, and precision to introduce and commission a 4.7-ton MRI in a location with difficult access conditions.

Comprehensive and Secure Project Management

The Bovis Group, through its Bovis Transports and Bovis Nord Europe agencies, mobilized a team of seven experts to ensure a fully integrated service, including:

• Storage and logistics: The Bovis Group has a logistics hub dedicated to medical equipment, located near Paris Roissy Charles de Gaulle Airport in Île-de-France. This center allows for the reception, storage, and preparation of medical equipment under optimal conditions before delivery across France and Europe. We also provide a specialized storage area for MRIs under power, ensuring strict fluid control and preserving the equipment before installation on-site.
• Specialized transport and installation: Delivery of the MRI by crane lifting, using appropriate equipment and strictly adhering to safety protocols. Meanwhile, the rest of the medical and IT equipment was transported through the main entrance, ensuring a smooth and organized installation.
• Heavy handling and lifting: Placement of the MRI on-site using a crane and a system of tank rollers.
• Electromechanical services: Mechanical assembly, wiring, and configuration of the MRI by our specialized technicians.

A Technical Challenge Successfully Overcome

Access to the building posed a significant challenge, requiring on-site adaptations:

• Creation of an opening in a building wall to allow the MRI to pass through.
• Construction of a temporary unloading dock in front of the opening to secure the crane operation.
• Crane maneuvering around the medical facility, avoiding any overhead movement over the building to comply with safety constraints.
• Floor protection to maintain the integrity of the medical facility’s infrastructure.

Final Installation and Commissioning

After the MRI was delivered, our team of specialized electromechanical technicians carried out the installation and commissioning:

• Mechanical assembly and installation of the equipment.
• Electrical wiring and connections, in compliance with the manufacturer's technical specifications.
• Verifications and tests before commissioning, ensuring optimal and secure operation.
